Deepening Industry–Education Integration | Nankai University and Jiuri New Materials Jointly Discuss Collaborative Innovation between Universities and Enterprises

On the morning of February 1, Zhu Shoufei, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee and Vice President of Nankai University, led a delegation of leaders and experts from the School of Chemistry to visit Jiuri New Materials for a university–enterprise cooperation exchange. Dr. Zhao Guofeng, Chairman of Jiuri New Materials, Dr. Zhang Qi, Senior Vice President, and other company executives accompanied the visit. The two sides engaged in an in-depth discussion on topics including the development of chemical disciplines and the growth of the semiconductor materials industry.

The visiting delegation from Nankai University first toured the company’s semiconductor R&D platform—Jiuri Semiconductor—where they gained an in-depth understanding of the company’s technological roadmap for core photoresist raw materials and mid-to-high-end photoresists, as well as its production-line construction and development plans. As a key pillar of the company’s strategic growth, Jiuri Semiconductor is steadily investing in the R&D of critical technologies and advancing their industrialization, with the aim of strengthening China’s self-reliant and controllable capabilities in the semiconductor materials supply chain.

Nankai University’s chemistry department boasts strong academic capabilities, with notable achievements in talent recruitment.

During the subsequent symposium, Vice President Zhu Shoufei outlined the latest developments in Nankai University’s chemistry program. He noted that Nankai Chemistry has consistently ranked among the top nationwide in the Ministry of Education’s discipline assessments and, as a “Double First-Class” discipline, maintains a leading position in China’s overall academic strength. In recent years, the college has steadily intensified its efforts to attract high‑caliber talent, successfully recruiting a cohort of internationally renowned scientists with significant academic influence, thereby providing robust momentum for disciplinary advancement and cutting‑edge research innovation.

The two parties engaged in pragmatic discussions centered on the established “Jiuri New Materials–Nankai University Fund for the Development of the Chemistry Discipline” and the jointly founded “Nankai University–Jiuri New Materials Joint Research Institute,” reaching multiple agreements on collaborative initiatives spanning disciplinary co‑construction, talent cultivation, and the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements. Moving forward, Jiuri New Materials will continue to support the development of Nankai University’s chemistry program, jointly advancing cutting‑edge research and applied exploration to foster high‑quality growth in the field. At the same time, the two sides will collaboratively pursue synergistic innovation in key semiconductor materials, tackle critical bottleneck technologies, and leverage Nankai University’s strengths in fundamental research as a core driver for the advancement of Jiuri’s semiconductor industry, thereby helping the company achieve technological breakthroughs and industrial upgrading.

This exchange has further strengthened the foundation of cooperation between the two parties. Jiuri New Materials will continue to deepen its industry–university–research collaboration with Nankai University and other institutions, fostering the deep integration of the innovation chain and the industrial chain, and contributing to the realization of high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and strength.
